Data protection at DSV plays a significant role. The collection and processing of personal data takes place in compliance particular the European Data Protection Regulation (EU-DSGVO) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

Hereby we give you an overview, why we record your data and in which form it is processed.

  3. For what purposes and on what legal basis are your personal data processed?

    Your data will be processed for the purpose of handling sea freight orders of our customer VDM Metals.

    Processing for the fulfilment of pre-contractual and contractual obligations (Article 6 (1) (b) GDPR) On this basis the data required to conduct the business relationship and to settle contractual claims arising from our contractual relationship, including automated and archived text documents (e.g., order documents, e-mail correspondence), is processed. Furthermore, the processing of your personal data is used for contract management and asserting claims by processing and forwarding information to courts, authorities or legal representatives.

    Processing to fulfil legal obligations (Article 6 (1) (c) EU GDPR) It includes i.a. company, customs, fiscal and tax documentation and reporting obligations, including financial accounting and accounting. To fulfill these purposes, the transmission of your personal data to service providers such as auditors and / or public authorities such as Customs may be required.

    Processing on the basis of our legitimate interests or legitimate interests of third parties (Article 6 (1) (f) EU GDPR) Your personal data can be i.a. processed:

  4. What categories of personal data are processed by DSV in this application?

    We process the personal data that we have received in the context of the business relationship of you or your employees and institutions, of third parties who have an authorization to transfer data to us (e.g. other affiliated companies, service providers) and publicly available sources (e.g. commercial register / trade register, association register, register of real estates, communication media). This includes in particular the following data: master data (name, first name, salutation), contact data (address, e-mail address, telephone number), if applicable, functional information (organizational classification in the company, authorization to represent). We also process information that arises by using of our technical aids (such as cookies, logs).

  5. Who receives your data?

    In order to achieve the stated objectives, it may be necessary for us to disclose your data to third parties and to provide them (e.g. public bodies, courts, affiliates) or cooperation partners to provide access to your data (e.g. on behalf of us to provide services). The transmission of the data relevant in the respective individual case takes place on the basis of the legal regulations or contractual agreement.

  6. Are your data transmitted to a third country?

    Your personal data may be transferred to countries outside the EU / EEA for the purpose of taking precontractual measures or fulfilling our contractual relationship, but only if cooperation, contact or exchange with contracting parties / affiliates outside the EU / EEA is necessary.

  7. How long will your personal data be processed by DSV?

    The processing covers the duration of the entire business relationship (from initiation, execution to termination of a contract). In addition, we store your data in compliance with and within the scope of the statutory storage and documentation obligations, the applicable warranty, warranty and limitation periods.
